Chiefs-Colts announcers will be Dan Hicks and Mike Mayock

The announcers for the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts Wild Card playoff game on Saturday will be Dan Hicks and Mike Mayock. Alex Flanagan will be handling the sideline duties. The game will be televised on NBC on Saturday, January 4 at 3:35 p.m. (Arrowhead Time).

You know Mike Mayock from the NFL Draft and Thursday Night Football games. You may also know him from NBC's Notre Dame broadcasts, which he does with Dan Hicks. Those two will be teaming up to call the Chiefs and Colts game on Saturday afternoon.

Outside of maybe Al Michaels, I'm not sure there's an announcers that the majority of people love. Most fans seem to think that most announcers don't like their team (probably not true in most cases, but maybe some). I'm not really big on criticizing announcers. It's just not something I get into very much, mostly because I'm not an expert on the subject (although you don't have to be an expert to know what you do and do not like to hear). Though I will say that I would prefer to have an announcing duo for this game that has worked together on NFL games all year long.

I do listen to the broadcast closely though because they usually have some inside information that they've gleaned from the team in their preparation for that game. Mayock seems to have some of that "inside football" knowledge if you listen to his broadcasts, the minor nuances of the game that I don't catch.

So, thoughts on Hicks and Mayock calling the game?
