Andy Reid welcomes the Chiefs into playoff week

The Kansas City Chiefs are in the playoffs for the first time in three years.

It's now official. We're in Chiefs playoff week.

The Chiefs play the Colts on Saturday, meaning Kansas City has one less day to prepare as the first game on Wild Card weekend.

Andy Reid spoke with the media on Monday and briefly touched on what's ahead -- Indianapolis.

"It's the start of a new season," Reid said. "That's how the playoffs work. You're in the dance, as they say.

"It's another phase of the season. You've worked very hard to get into this position. Now it's important that you exhaust yourself to make sure that you're right.

"It's single elimination and you want to make sure you prepare yourselves the right way. We have an opportunity to play a good football team in the Colts. We look forward to that challenge of going down there and playing them in Indy."

As for who will be traveling down to Indy, the Chiefs are hopefully getting healthier. Here's what Reid said about the notable injuries:

  • WR Dwayne Bowe: He was out last week with a concussion. "Making progress," Reid said. "He will probably work tomorrow."
  • LB Tamba Hali: He did not play last week with his knee injury. "Inflammation of his knee has gone down," Reid said. "We'll just see how he does tomorrow."
  • LB James-Michael Johnson: Ankle sprain suffered in the Chargers game. "Pretty tender today," Reid said. "We'll see how he does here. Right now it's a day to day thing."
  • CB Sean Smith: Knee sprain suffered in the Chargers game. Reid indicated it was minor.

Welcome to playoff week!
