NFL power rankings, Week 16: Where should the KC Chiefs rank?

The Kansas City Chiefs are now 11-3 on the season. Where should they be ranked in this week's NFL power rankings?

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Just one team in the NFL has a better record than the Kansas City Chiefs and that is the Super Bowl favorite Seattle Seahawks at 12-2. The Chiefs 11-3 record is the second best, a record they share with the Denver Broncos (who beat the Chiefs twice and own the tiebreaker).

So from a standings standpoint, that should put the Chiefs at No. 3. But NFL power rankings aren't always just about the record. It's about which team you feel is better.

The 49ers, beating the Seahawks last week, could merit a spot above KC with their 10-4 record. The Saints and Panthers, who play this week, are both 10-4. Should they be ranked ahead of Kansas City? I thought the Bengals could be on their way to creeping ahead of the Chiefs but then they laid an egg in primetime last Sunday night. Same with the Colts, but they are showing us they're a little schizophrenic, beating great teams and then losing to the Rams two weeks ago.

I can see the Chiefs being as high as No. 3 and as low as No. 8 or 9. Just depends on what you're looking for.

Our power rankings will be out later today but I'm thinking about going with No. 5 for the Chiefs.

Where would you rank the Chiefs?
