The Kansas City Chiefs added another name to their injury list for Sunday's contest against the Oakland Raiders with the announcement that Dexter McCluster did not travel with the team, according to NFL.com.
McCluster has been a dynamic force for the Chiefs on special teams this season with two punt returns for touchdowns this season, including one last week against the Washington Redskins. In addition, he's on pace to set career highs in receiving yards as a regular target for Alex Smith. He has 46 catches for 438 receiving yards and 1 touchdown.
McCluster was already questionable for the game after suffering an ankle injury last Sunday. Randy Covitz of the Star reported that McCluster suffered an infection in a cut on his ankle, and rumors of MRSA were floating for some time on Saturday. However, the NFL.com report cleared McCluster of that possibility.
The Chiefs had already declared three players out for Sunday's game: tight end Anthony Fasano, linebacker Justin Houston and left tackle Branden Albert. All three are starters, so the team's depth will definitely be tested against Oakland.
Quintin Demps could remain on kick return duties for the Chiefs. Chad Hall could step in on punt returns.
