Sanders Commings is now officially part of the Kansas City Chiefs 53-man roster. The Chiefs activated him off the injured reserve list and waived safety Bradley McDougald.
Commings was a fifth round pick for the Chiefs last April. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he could play a number of positions from safety to corner to nickel.
But he was hurt in the first couple days of training camp, breaking his collarbone and sidelining him. The Chiefs put him on IR-designated to return, which meant he would be eligible to return later in the season.
Now here we sit later in the season and Commings is back.
It'll be interesting to see how the Chiefs ease him in. Obviously they have a plan for him or else they wouldn't be putting him on the active roster. I could see him being inactive on game days for the first few weeks as he gets his feet wet and the Chiefs determine what kind of role he can play.
