For the second time in franchise history, the Kansas City Chiefs are 9-0. And they've achieved that record in nearly the exact opposite way as the last time they reached 9-0.
The 2003 KC Chiefs hit 9-0 thanks to the best offense in the NFL. Those Chiefs were scoring 30 points a game, good enough for the No. 1 offense in the NFL. The defense was eventually their downfall in the great no-punt game of the 2004 playoffs, but the defense was opportunistic in creating a lot of turnovers.
The 2013 KC Chiefs hit 9-0 thanks to the No. 1 defense in the NFL. Unlike the 2003 Chiefs, the Chiefs defense has been keeping them in games. Like the 2003 Chiefs defense, the 2013 Chiefs offense has been opportunistic, coming up with big plays and long drives at the exact right time.
So this comes down to the age-old debate -- offense or defense.
I'm curious to know your take on this. If these two teams lined up today, who would you pick to win?
