Dwayne Bowe will play in Chiefs-Broncos game, according to a report

New, comments

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe, who was arrested for marijuana possession on Sunday night, will play in the Chiefs Sunday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos, according to an ESPN report.

KC Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is scheduled to speak to the media on Wednesday afternoon, a highly anticipated moment as it regards the status of Dwayne Bowe for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. ESPN's Ed Werder reports that, despite Bowe's arrest, the Chiefs WR will play against the Broncos on Sunday.

Werder cites a source who says, "He's playing."

I suspected a decision would be made today considering Andy Reid is speaking with the media shortly before noon today. Those will be his first public comments since the Bowe news came to light.

The thinking so far in this case seems to be that the Chiefs will let Bowe play while the NFL awaits his court date on December 18 to make a determination on possible discipline, such as a suspension. But that's obviously all speculative as we await to hear from Andy Reid.

Last night I wrote this piece where I laid out what the Chiefs should say about Bowe's status:

"The team is aware of Dwayne Bowe's arrest and we are disappointed in his decision-making. We will let the legal process play itself out before determining the next step. In accordance with the CBA, the league will be responsible for any discipline imposed. At no time have I questioned Dwayne's commitment to helping the Chiefs win."

We shall see what goes down shortly before noon today when Reid steps to the podium.
