One quick note I want to make is that each individual user can hide images/gifs in the comments if they want to. Head to your profile page (linked in the upper right of the page), click Account Settings, and you'll see a setting for hiding images. This way, we can keep the GIF Oracle and make those people who won't want GIFs slowing down their computer happy.
