He was 0-4 all-time against the Titans entering the game, the only team he hadn't beaten. The other notable team he hadn't beaten entering the season was the Eagles, who the Chiefs beat in Week 3.
Congrats, Andy Reid.
More post-game notes from the Chiefs...
Chiefs are 5-0 for the 2nd time in franchise history
The other being the 2003 Chiefs, who started 9-0.
A few times each day I have to stop what I'm doing and consider just how freakin' insane it is that the Chiefs are still unbeaten.
Best start in NFL history after winning 2 or fewer games the previous season
Goodbye, 1980 Detroit Lions! They were the only other team to start 4-0 after a two-or-less win season the previous year. The Chiefs now own this record.
Chiefs most special teams TD since 2009
And it's Week 5.
It's also the first time they've scored back-to-back special teams TDs since the 2003 season. The other being Dexter McCluster's 89-yard punt return TD last week. They've got two more games to go to match Dante Hall's incredible four-game run in 2003.
Ryan Succop now 5th in scoring in Chiefs franchise history
I wrote in my "What we learned" post that Succop was quietly an important part of the Chiefs success. Good timing considering he just passed Pete Stoyanovich for fifth place all-time. At 443 points, he is close to matching Tony Gonzalez (462). Nick Lowery is No. 1 with 1,466.
Jamaal passes the Nigerian Nightmare for 3rd place
Jamaal Charles is now third all-time in Chiefs rushing yards. He passed Christian Okoye for third place in the Titans game. At 4,933 yards, he is behind Larry Johnson (ugh, 6,015) and Priest Holmes (6.070). There are 11 games left ... is it THAT insane to think he could flirt with that record this year?
The "Big 3" add to sack totals
Tamba had one sack, giving him four on the season.
Justin Houston had one sack, giving him 8.5 on the season.
Dontari Poe had one sack, giving him 4.5 on the season.
Alex Smith is the first Chiefs QB to win his first five starts with the team since Mike Livingston in 1969.
