NFL trade deadline 2013: KC Chiefs stand pat, make no moves

The KC Chiefs did not make any trades ahead of the 2013 NFL trade deadline, which passed on Tuesday afternoon.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 NFL trade deadline has come and gone and the Kansas City Chiefs did not make any moves. The only move a large number of fans were hoping for was a Tony Gonzalez trade but that has been a long shot for a while now.

While the Chiefs do have a few holes on the roster -- mostly on offense -- it's so hard in the NFL to bring a player on midseason and expect him to contribute. That player would have to learn the offense, gain some familiarity with the rest of the offense or defense and find a role -- all in just a few weeks.

The NFL isn't like baseball where you can plug someone into third base pretty easily. There's so much more that goes into football, the ultimate team game.

So from that standpoint I'm not surprised the Chiefs didn't make any moves.

There were some Jared Allen trade rumors out there (not involving the Chiefs) but the Vikings did not move him. The Eagles traded NT Isaac Sopoaga to the Patriots.

Should they have made a move? Let us know in the comments.
