Anthony Fasano's injury getting better; Chiefs TE could play this week

The injury to KC Chiefs TE Anthony Fasano has progressed to a point where he could possibly play this weekend against the Houston Texans.

KC Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano appears primed for a come back. Head coach Andy Reid told the media on Wednesday that Fasano will practice on the first day of preparation for Houston Texans week.

There's also this, via Herbie Teope:

Fasano has been out since Week 2 when he suffered an ankle injury. He has not played since then and along the way a knee injury has been added to the pile. Fasano said on Instagram recently that he is "so happy" for another win "yet, so frustrated". That was obviously a reference to his injury woes.

The good news is that the Chiefs tight ends have been good enough to win in his absence. Sean McGrath has been taking the majority of the snaps with Kevin Brock backing him up. Rookie tight end Travis Kelce was placed on IR already, meaning his season is over. That's left quite the hole at tight end.

Fasano's return comes at a good time. The Chiefs will need to figure out a way to neutralize JJ Watt, whether it be with extra tight ends or backs. Fasano is the Chiefs best tight end and a capable blocker. His return will be welcome.

In other injury news, safety Kendrick Lewis was the only other Chief scheduled to miss practice today due to his ankle sprain.
