The NFL has named KC Chiefs LB Tamba Hali the AFC defensive player of the week for his role in the Chiefs 24-7 victory over the Oakland Raiders last Sunday. And what did he do in that game? Oh, just picked up 3.5 of the Chiefs 10 sacks on the day.
That makes 7.5 sacks on the season for Tamba, which puts him third in the NFL behind Justin Houston and Robert Mathis, who lead the NFL with 9.5 sacks each, and Mario Williams who has eight.
This is the fourth time a Chiefs player has won a player of the week award. In Week 1, it was Justin Houston for his three sacks against the Jaguars. In Week 3, it was Houston again for his 4.5 sacks against the Eagles. In Week 4, it was Dexter McCluster for his 89-yard punt return touchdown.
And now, the fourth, is Tamba for his three sacks against the Raiders.
Tamba Hali has notched 17 more total pressures than any other player through 6 weeks. 2nd most? Justin Houston. #Chiefs
