Chiefs' Reid Says Colquitt, Charles Are Fine; Flowers, Fisher Still On Mend from KC Star
Colquitt suffered a knee sprain after a Giants player got a piece of the ball during a punt-block attempt Sunday, crashing into Colquitt's leg. Despite his injury, Colquitt returned to the game, a 31-7 victory by the Chiefs. He dropped two punts inside the 20, giving him a league-high 15 on the season.
"Sometimes punter and kickers get a bad rap about toughness," Reid said, "but this kid is a tough nut."
Charles had "extensive" blisters on his feet, according to Reid, but is also OK. Charles rushed 18 times for 65 yards and also caught five passes for 62 yards against the Giants.
"The bottom of his feet were just a mess," Reid said. "But the kid, he's a tough kid. He likes to play. You appreciate that."
Sean McGrath: The Man Behind The Beard from The Mothership
One of the many key players involved in the team's fourth-straight win yesterday was Chiefs TE
Sean McGrath , who finished the day with five receptions, for a team-high 64 yards, and one score, his first in the NFL.McGrath, rocking his ever-popular beard, took time to answer questions, letting fans know more about the former Henderson State Reddie.
Chiefs Encouraged By McCluster's Big Return from KC Star
What's more, aside from a 36-yard punt return in the season opener against Jacksonville, he'd also failed to make much of an impact on special teams, even muffing a kick return attempt against Philadelphia.
Still, special teams coach Dave Toub never lost faith. He mentioned to reporters last Thursday that McCluster had been close to breaking a few big ones, something he apparently told Chiefs coach Andy Reid as well.
"Dave will tell ya, we're like one block or one step away from getting one," Reid said Monday. "I've heard that the last couple weeks."
But on Sunday, McCluster made Toub look like a prophet.
Week 4 Pics, Stats And Chiefs Commentary from The Mothership
WR
Dwayne Bowe caught four passes for 58 yards (14.5 avg.) in Sunday's contest, including a 34-yard touchdown from QB Alex Smith. It is his second receiving touchdown of the season and the 41st-receiving touchdown of his career. His 41-receiving touchdowns rank fifth in team history."It felt good," Bowe said of Sunday's win. "The offensive line did a great job of holding up and opening lanes so that Alex could see to hit me. You got to give credit to the New York defense. They were going man and showed us tough coverages, but we fought it out at the end and our offensive line did a great job of holding up. Jamaal [Charles] did a great job of tucking the ball and finding the holes to put us in a good position."
Chiefs 31, Giants 7: Rewatch, With Tamba, Charles, McCluster, Poe, Fisher, Smith from KC Star
Fisher's injury is hard to identify. He was on the field for the Chiefs' last real drive of the first half, the one that ended in Succop's 51-yard field goal. Then, when the Chiefs got the ball back to kneel out the last few seconds of the half, Fisher had been replaced. On the second down play of the field goal drive, Fisher pulled and sort of slammed into Sean McGrath, who was in motion and coming the opposite way to block a trail defender. Fisher adjusted his facemask after that play, but, really, I'm stretching to come up with something^. And just to be sure: this isn't a comment on Fisher's toughness, at all. Head injuries are a serious issue, and besides, a lot of times the hidden or more subtle hits are more damaging than the big ones.
Andy Reid's Monday Presser Transcript from The Mothership
Q: What does it say about your team that you have
Anthony Fasano helping outSean McGrath ?REID: "It's an unselfish bunch, for sure. You saw (Brandon) Flowers doing the same thing with (Marcus) Cooper, so I appreciate that part. McGrath has a good attitude about him, he works hard. You have to be able to carry yourself a certain way to get to where the veterans help you out like that. If you don't handle yourself the right way, you're not going to get that extra help there. Those guys have handled themselves properly with their work ethic and their openness to any kind of points they can get from these guys. It's kind of a two-way deal."
From A to Z, A Nearly Letter-Perfect Win For The Chiefs Over The Giants from KC Star
D is for deafening, which Arrowhead Stadium was on Sunday, perhaps peaking at a measured 110 decibels during Dexter McCluster's 89-yard punt return to give the Chiefs a 17-7 lead. A thunderclap is 120 decibels.
E is for efficiency, third-down: The Chiefs were nine of 16, 56 percent, on Sunday. The Giants were 1-14, 7 percent.

Chiefs 'Haven't Played Anybody'? Are You Serious, Mr. Sunshine? from FS Kansas City
It bears repeating -- and yeah, because it's so early, the deviations tend to be a bit more extreme -- but one of the reasons the teams with good records have low schedule numbers and the teams with awful records have great schedule numbers is because the good teams have beaten the crappy teams like an old rug.
Or, to put it another way, is it the Chiefs' fault that they clearly took their foot off the gas during the second half in North Florida and stomped the Jags by 26, while the Colts went out and whupped The Free Beer Boys by 34 last weekend?
Injuries Piling Up For Kansas City Chiefs from ESPN
The Kansas City Chiefs won't be the team without their starting quarterback on Sunday when they meet the Titans in Nashville, Tenn., but they should have an extensive injury list during preparations this week.
The most pressing issue is the sore knee that caused starting cornerback Brandon Flowersto miss the Chiefs' 31-7 win over the New York Giants.
Chiefs Winning Streak Sends Merchandise Flying Off Shelves from FOX4KC
An undefeated Kansas City Chiefs team is sparking more spending across the metro area.
From T-shirts to pizza, even big screen TV sets are seeing strong sales, and merchants say the Chiefs winning streak is a big reason behind it.
The Kansas City Chiefs claim that the team generates $400 million a year to our regional economy. But when the team is winning, more people say they can see and feel that impact.
Upon Further Review: Chiefs Week 4 from ESPN
Smith's streak of 160 passes without an interception is over, but he didn't appear much at fault with either of the two interceptions he threw against the Giants. Dwayne Bowe was running a slant on one interception and then appeared to cut the route short. Smith's second interception was deflected by Jamaal Charles to a New York defender. Smith's streak was second only to Denver's Peyton Manning. Smith's three touchdown passes were a career high. He is 23-5-1 over the past four seasons as a starter.
Pressing Monday Questions From A relaxing Chiefs Sunday from FS Kansas City
:01 ... Can the Chiefs (finally) handle the legend that is Ryan Fitzpatrick?
Tennessee quarterback Jake Locker left Sunday's tilt in an ambulance, the result of getting sandwiched by two Jets defenders after throwing a pass with 11:14 left in the third quarter. Locker reportedly clutched at his hip as he hit the ground. Titans officials didn't offer much in the way of details as of early Sunday evening, but Monday reports indicated the signal-caller is likely out between four and eight weeks.
Andy Reid's Killer Instinct Will Benefit Chiefs from ESPN
The fact that the decision paid off for Reid isn't what makes it a good one. It's that he's coaching to the strengths of the Chiefs.
Those strengths are a ball-control offense (the Chiefs had possession for almost 36 minutes on Sunday) and a defense capable of controlling games (the Giants took just 10 snaps on Kansas City's side of the field). Chances were the Chiefs were going to chew more time off the clock and still get points on the drive. If they didn't, chances were their defense would stifle the Giants.
Chiefs Still Unbeaten As They Begin Week 5 from The Associated Press via The Sun Herald
The memories of last season are already fuzzy for the Kansas City Chiefs, who tried to purge just about every one of them from their minds over a long, difficult offseason.
It helps that they're quickly being replaced by happy thoughts.
The Chiefs pounded the New York Giants 31-7 on Sunday to move to 4-0 for only the third time in franchise history. They also joined the 1980 Detroit Lions as the only franchises to reel off four straight wins a year after winning two or fewer games.
Are The Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Contenders? from H4TV
All of the above statistics are certainly indicative of a team that will win their fair share of games this year, however, they have the misfortune of being in the same division as Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Sure, the Chiefs can control the clock, but can they score 42 points? Until Alex Smith shows that he can throw the ball down the field consistently, I just don't see how they can compete with the likes of teams like the Broncos who can put points on the board, and in a hurry. Defensively, can they pressure Manning enough to force him into mistakes?
The Kansas City Chiefs Re-Up Deal With Satan After Beating Giants from Scrape TV
The team certainly made a lot of changes including adding coach Andy Reid and quarterback Alex Smith which certainly should have provided a boost, but not one quite like this. Now the team has admitted that they in fact did craft a deal with the Dark Lord for this season, which they are re-upping after last night.
Drive Of The Game: Putting It Away from ESPN
That put the Chiefs up 17-7, and there's little doubt that it shook the Giants. But more than one Giants player in the postgame locker room said it was the next Chiefs drive that really felt like a gut punch. That came after a Steve Weatherford punt into the end zone at the very end of the third quarter.
The Chiefs got the ball on their own 20-yard line and drove 80 yards in 14 plays that stretched over 9 minutes, 17 seconds and effectively ended the game by building a 17-point lead over a punchless Giants offense. Alex Smith converted a third-and-5 with a pass to McCluster at the Kansas City 30.
NFL Week 4: Red-Hot Peyton Manning. Seattle's Streak And The Same Ol' Cowboys from The Huffington Post
With the Andy Reid-led Kansas City Chiefs also 4-0 and San Diego resurgent as well, the AFC West is suddenly hyper-competitive. Everyone knew that Reid was one of the game's finest coaches, but to take a 2-win team from a year ago and transform it into this is something special. Quarterback Alex Smith continues to run an efficient offense, while the Chiefs' defense operates like a top-five unit, yesterday holding New York to just 7 points and Eli Manning to 18 of 37 passing.
Source: Tight End Danny Noble Working Out For Chiefs, Colts from National Football Post
The 6-foot-5, 248-pound Noble made the roster last season as an undrafted rookie free agent from Toledo.
He was cut recently when they signed fullback Spencer Larsen.
The NFL Season At The Quarter Pole from National Football Post
In 2012 the Chiefs had the worst record in football. The GM and head coach were fired. Along came Andy Reid and John Dorsey with a different plan and new ideas. Four weeks into the season, the Chiefs are 4-0 including a win over Reid's former team, the Philadelphia Eagles. The people in Philly thought Reid couldn't coach any more, but he has done an excellent job in turning around Kansas City.
New quarterback Alex Smith is playing the best football of his career. He has been very consistent and given the Chiefs the leadership they needed at the position. The Chiefs defense has been physical and taken advantage of opportunities.
Kansas City Chiefs: Contender Or Pretender? from The Daily Nexus
Perhaps the most surprising start this season has been the resurgence of the Kansas City Chiefs under new Head Coach Andy Reid. Sparked by a stellar defense, the Chiefs look like they may be in contention for a playoff spot in the AFC.
While it would take a miracle for the Chiefs to surpass the high-powered Denver Broncos, Kansas City certainly looks capable of securing a wild card spot, especially with a 4-0 record already on the season. When examining the schedule, naysayers may note that the Chiefs have yet to beat any team of merit this season, but at times, the Chiefs look straight up dominant.
Chiefs' Waiver Moves Already Looking Solid from ESPN
They were low-risk moves, two of the seven players the Chiefs claimed off waivers at the start of the season to help them improve the bottom of their depth chart.
The Chiefs had nothing to lose and a lot to gain and already those moves look good. Cooper in particular looks like he could help the Chiefs for some time. He's 6-2, fast and a converted wide receiver who played just two seasons of cornerback in college at Rutgers. If nothing else, he could provide the Chiefs a third cornerback after the starters, Flowers and Sean Smith.
NFL Pregame Shows Week 4 Sound Bites: ESPN's 'Sunday NFL Countdown' from The Schenectady Daily Gazette
Ditka: "I think it's important for a coach not only to have talent, but recognize the talent he has and I think he did a great job of that on the offensive and the defensive side of the ball. And I talk with Alex Smith to start with. Come on guys, this guy is playing great football, does not turn the football over, plays right into what Andy loves, you know, make the other team earn it. And they're making the other team earn it."
