Packers' John Dorsey is the 'clear-cut favorite' and 'all but certain' for Chiefs GM job

Now that the Chiefs coaching search has died down it's time to turn to the GM. There are two names which have consistently been brought up -- Packers executive John Dorsey and former Browns GM (and Eagles personnel man) Tom Heckert.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

All signs are pointing to the Kansas City Chiefs new GM being John Dorsey, the director of operations for the Green Bay Packers. Nothing is official yet -- heck, Andy Reid hasn't even been introduced yet -- but Dorsey is clearly the No. 1 candidate, according to the various reports out there.

Let's start locally and move nationally.

Adam Teicher is on the Dorsey train. As you'll see, not everyone agrees on Heckert.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora writes it is "all but certain" Dorsey will land in KC.

On the personnel side, Green Bay executive John Dorsey is all but certain to serve as general manager under Reid -- Reid will report directly to owner Clark Hunt -- and the team will add other personnel men as well, as the Chiefs franchise is remade following the departure of former general manager Scott Pioli.

If "all but certain" isn't your cup of tea, how about it's his "if he wants it"?

Or "clear-cut favorite".

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears BOTH could be coming to Kansas City.

Hmm...

Behind every great man, there's a great woman. Via ESPN's Jason Wilde:

In addition, Dorsey's wife, Patricia A. Sexton-Dorsey, is a lawyer in a Kansas City-based law firm, although the couple lives in De Pere with their two children, Jack, 1, and Catherine, 3, and she works from here.
