The Chargers have a new coach who should be familiar with KC Chiefs fans -- Nick Sirianni. He coached the receivers in Kansas City in last year and the Chargers announced this week that they have hired Sirianni as a quality control coach on offense.
Mike McCoy, the new Chargers head coach after Norv Turner was fired, made the hires.
Sirianni joins the Chargers as the offensive quality control coach after spending four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. The first three years of his NFL coaching career was spent as an offensive quality control coach before he transitioned to wide receivers coach last season. Prior to the Chiefs, he spent five years coaching in college.
Sirianni came to Kansas City because of Todd Haley (and went to my Church!). Interestingly, Todd Haley once wanted Mike McCoy on his staff. Now McCoy hires away a guy Haley brought into the league.
The Chiefs current quality control coaches are Corey Matthaei and Britt Reid, Andy Reid's son.
