Brian Daboll leaves Chiefs, joins Patriots

The Kansas City Chiefs brought offensive coordinator Brian Daboll on board this past season but things didn't work out as planned as the Chiefs offense was awful. With Andy Reid and a new coaching staff coming in, Daboll is out.

When the Kansas City Chiefs hired Doug Pederson as their offensive coordinator last weekend, their press release didn't mention one important note -- what happened to Brian Daboll?

As expected, the Chiefs offensive coordinator last season is out. His next stop is an interesting one -- New England. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick announced on Monday that the Patriots were in the process of bringing Daboll back onto the staff.

Daboll was with the Patriots earlier in his career from 2000-06. From there he went to the Jets to the Browns to the Dolphins and then to the Chiefs.

Now it's back to New England.

The Patriots did a similar thing last year bringing on Josh McDaniels during the playoff run.

I think we all just assumed that Daboll wouldn't be back in Kansas City after a new staff came in. And the fact that the Chiefs offense was, you know, miserable last season.

No word on the future of any of the other Chiefs coaches who were on staff last year.
