The Kansas City Chiefs will not be favored when they host the Atlanta Falcons to open the 2012 NFL season. The Falcons enter the game as a 2.5 to 3 point favorite, depending on which set of odds you look at. The Falcons opened as a 1-point favorite so they've slowly tacked 'em on in the point spread.

We all know point spreads mean nothing when it comes time to line up on the field but they're an interesting snapshot of how the league is viewed. The home team usually gets at least some points for playing in front of the home crowd but that apparently isn't enough to make the Chiefs favored.

The over/under on the Falcons-Chiefs game is set at 42.

KC looked weak in a couple of preseason games so I would guess bettors don't quite know what they're getting from them yet and, frankly, neither do we. I'd like to think the Chiefs are the team that showed up against the Cardinals and then the Packers a few weeks later. Unfortunately there's the possibility they're the team that showed up against the Seahawks.

Here are all the Week 1 NFL odds.

Is a 2.5 to 3-point line fair for the Falcons-Chiefs game?
