The Kansas City Chiefs injuries are starting to pile up a little before Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. KC had several guys go down with injuries in the preseason finale last week. Romeo Crennel is not required to issue an injury report until Wednesday but he handed out an update on Monday anyway (H/T NJ Chiefs Fan for being on top of this yesterday.)
"Derrick Johnson, he's not going to be practicing. [Kendrick] Lewis will not be practicing. [Brandon] Flowers will be limited, he'll be in the same situation he's been in, he'll be limited. [Allen] Bailey is not practicing and [Anthony] Toribio is not practicing. [Jalil] Brown, he's going to be limited and he's going try to do some things and we'll see how much he can do. [Terrance] Copper, he'll be limited, he'll try to do some and also Cyrus Gray, he'll be limited and we'll see what he can do."
And again in an easier-to-read format:
No practice: Derrick Johnson, Kendrick Lewis, Allen Bailey, Anthony Toribio
Limited: Brandon Flowers, Jalil Brown, Terrance Copper, Cyrus Gray
DJ is the big one on that list. Despite the fact he didn't practice, he has a shot to play. Romeo Crennel sounded more optimistic on him than Brandon Flowers, who seems headed for the questionable tag, and Kendrick Lewis, who will likely be out. Toribio's status is important with a rookie and a second year player behind him. Maybe not as important as cornerback, though, where Flowers and Brown's injury could result in Jacques Reeves, who hasn't played in two-plus years, to start the game.
Brady Quinn, who had a neck injury, is fine, Romeo said.
