The Kansas City Chiefs had three legitimate candidates for NFL player of the week after they beat the New Orleans Saints.
Jamaal Charles did win for his 233 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving. He's the AFC offensive player of the week which should be a no-brainer with the way he blew up on Sunday. I'm hoping this isn't the last time he wins one of these. Odds on Charles getting another one?
You could make an argument for Justin Houston as the AFC defensive player of the week with his three sacks and a safety but you apparently can't give them all to a Chief. Bengals' Michael Johnson won that award. He also had three sacks.
You could also make an extremely strong case for Ryan Succop and his six (!!) field goals. That was an incredible performance from Succop.
But only Charles is the winner this week. The rest of them are:
AFC OFFEENSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
RB Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
AFC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
DE Michael Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
AFC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
KR-RB Darius Reynaud, Tennessee Titans
NFC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
WR Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
NFC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
DE Chris Clemons, Seattle Seahawks
NFC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
K Lawrence Tynes, New York Giants
