The Kansas City Chiefs expected to get the Atlanta Falcons' best and judging by the postgame chatter that's exactly what they got. Matt Ryan finished 23-of-31 for 299 yards and three touchdowns (and one rushing!) as Atlanta scored on their first eight possessions.
Falcons coach Mike Smith suggested after the game that this was the best game of Ryan's career.
"Matt's played some really good games for us in his four years here. This might be the best game that he played. It was a great start to the season. It's only a start. I'm sure there are some throws that he would like to have back, like always. He had a very good command of the offense and how we wanted to attack the Kansas City defense."
Wow. That's not very comforting. The Chiefs had some guys missing -- some very important guys -- but that's still not a good thing to hear after a game. You never want someone to have a career day against you, let alone someone who is already pretty good.
Nothing else to add here...that sucked.
