Derrick Johnson's injury is not that serious, according to KC Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel. Romeo wouldn't commit to DJ playing in Week 1 against the Falcons but was hopeful that he would. He was also hopeful that Brandon Flowers would be ready but didn't go so far as to say either player would definitely be on the field.

That's good news on the DJ front because we didn't know what his ankle injury was or whether it was serious.

Anthony Toribio, who had an ankle injury, is out of his boot and he's "beginning to make progress." Romeo didn't indicate whether Toribio would be available in Week 1.

Brady Quinn has a "neck strain", Romeo said, and is hopeful for him as well, but notes he "hasn't seen him do anything yet" so we're unsure there as well. The trainers tell him he's OK, though.

Kendrick Lewis is unlikely to be ready for Week 1 but is starting to make some progress.

Crennel wouldn't commit to any of these guys practicing but there's still hope on the Flowers front and DJ has a real shot to play. I consider this good news.
