Whew. That's how I feel after surviving a weekend in San Diego for a friend's bachelor party. It was a good time in downtown San Diego but, per usual with these things, I realized I'm not 22 years old anymore.

I came back home last night just in time to catch the Arizona Cardinals dropping a game to the New Orleans Saints, 17-10. Kevin Kolb was injured, the replacement referees weren't great and the first preseason game is done.

As the game was ending, I heard some nice words about the KC Chiefs from NFL Network announcer Mike Mayock. When talking about the Thursday Night Football schedule, Mayock highlighted the Chiefs as a team that could surprise this year. ESPN's Jon Gruden picked KC as his sleeper team last week.

The Chiefs will be featured on Thursday Night Football in Week 9 with a November 1 matchup in San Diego against the Chargers.

That seems sooo long away. Then again, it wasn't that long ago that the 2011 season was ending. We've come a long way.
