Right before the 3:20 p.m. (Arrowhead time) practice today, the Kansas City Chiefs added former South Carolina fullback Patrick DiMarco. Josh Looney at KCChiefs.com has the breakdown on DiMarco.
DiMarco joins the Chiefs following a brief training camp stint with the Chargers in 2011. Signed as an undrafted free agent, DiMarco was released by San Diego after fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his foot on the third day of training camp last year.
A fullback and tight end at South Carolina, DiMarco played in 52 career games for the Gamecocks. An active blocker and pass-catcher, DiMarco caught 38 passes for 302 yards (7.9 avg.) with six touchdowns. He also gained 34 yards on 11 rushing attempts (3.1 avg.)
Is this a signing fans should really pay attention to? Not really. As Josh Looney notes, this is typical shuffling of the training camp roster:
Shane Bannon is out for a few days with an abdominal injury. Taylor Gentry failed physical.
