Depending on how things shake out, the KC Chiefs could be lining up in Week 1 with nine of their own first round draft picks on the roster. Mitch Holthus had this nugget on 810 WHB with Kevin Kietzman yesterday afternoon and it's pretty interesting stuff.
"If/when Bowe gets here," Holthus said, "they will have 9 first round draft picks of their own on the 53-man roster dating back to 2005 with Derrick Johnson. That has only happened -- I went back and researched it -- it has happened only five times in franchise history. It hasn't happened in 27 years. That '85 team didn't do very much but the three prior to that -- '69, '70 and '71."
That's right: Derrick Johnson (2005), Tamba Hali (2006), Dwayne Bowe (2007), Glenn Dorsey and Brandon Albert (2008), Tyson Jackson (2009), Eric Berry (2010), Jon Baldwin (2011) and Dontari Poe (2012).
All those guys should make the roster this year meaning 9 first round picks are really coming.
