The first six questions to Romeo Crennel at today's press conference were about the quarterbacks. The backup quarterbacks, the starting quarterbacksand the quarterbacks playing time. All quarterbacks all the time.
If you were wondering what he said about Ricky Stanzi, Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel, here's the transcript of Romeo's quarterback Q&A from earlier today:
Randy Covitz (KC Star): How are you going to rotate the second and third quarterbacks?
Crennel: "[Ricky] Stanzi is going to be the guy who will go in first after [Matt] Cassel, so he's going tobe the [No.] 1, and we talked about evaluating quarterbacks, so we'll give him a chance to be the second guy in to see what he can do."
Covitz: Evaluate both Ricky Stanzi and Brady Quinn from their performance in the game.
Crennel: "They're both working hard, they both understand the offense, they both have commandin the huddle, and it's still close, so I can't make a decision yet. One guy has had game experience withthe second unit, so now we're going to give the next guy game experience with the second unit and see what he can do and then that will help the evaluation."
Adam Teicher (KC Star): So Quinn will get in the game too?
Crennel: "If we can, yes."
Covitz: Is Cassel going to go a little longer? I'm just wondering how that affects whether Quinn plays.
Crennel: "Who knows how that game goes? I said that I would get [Quinn] in the game if I could. If the game develops... Like, if Cassel has five or six 12-play drives, then those other guys may not get as many, so it just depends on how the game goes."
Covitz: The first unit, would you like them to play a whole quarter or a quarter-and-a-half?
Crennel: "I'm telling the first unit the same thing I told them last week: Be ready to play, and then they'll play until I take them out, so that's what I tell them."
Doug Tucker (the other AP): Are you hoping to give Matt a little more playing time this game?
Crennel: "No. I'm telling the first unit the same thing I told them last week, be ready to play. They will play until I take them out. So, that's what I tell them."
