The Kansas City Chiefs will be rolling to their rookie minicamp next week with their eight draft picks and 15 undrafted free agents. They'll also be inviting several other players on a tryout basis.
One of those players is Montana State kicker Jason Cunningham, who was reportedly invited to tryout at the Chiefs rookie minicamp starting on May 11.
"Hey, I'm happy with whatever team called me," Cunningham said. "I grew up a Cowboys fan, but I knew that had to go away quick if I wanted to give the NFL a shot. I enjoy the Chiefs. I know they have a great fan base. Their stadium is neat. The weather isn't too bad, so really there aren't that many negatives."
Cunningham, the all-time leading scorer in Montana State history, said he was relieved that finals were over, which reminds me: I am so glad I'm done with school. Couldn't imagine thinking about finals right now.
Ryan Succop and UDFA Matt Szymanski are already on the team. Succop signed a multi-year extension last season.
