OL Jeff Allen wasn't the only Kansas City Chiefs player missing practice on Thursday. Head coach Romeo Crennel confirmed that Allen, RB Cyrus Gray and DB De'Quan Menzie all missed practice with various ailments. Allen has been out the last two days and Gray has been out all week.
Via comments sent out by the Chiefs, Crennel said:
"I really don't have a timetable because the injuries are different for different players, and they heal differently. Basically, Cyrus has missed all week. Jeff missed two days. So, after this long weekend and a weekend of treatment, we'll see where they are. Like I said, hopefully we can get them back on the field next week."
Allen was spotted in a walking boot, which suggests a foot injury. The KC Star's Adam Teicher wondered if it was a high ankle sprain, which could keep him out for the rest of OTAs if that's the case (which we don't know whether it is). Gray and Menzie are both out with what's been called hamstring injuries.
It's a long offseason so the sprains and strains at this point aren't a concern. The other guys who are recovering from offseason surgeries -- Tony Moeaki, Eric Berry, Jamaal Charles and Kendrick Lewis -- seem more and more likely to miss all of OTAs and just focus on training camp.
