The Kansas City Chiefs are starting Organized Team Activities (OTA) today out at the Arrowhead practice facility. The offseason program is marked by a lack of actual hitting but this is still the closest thing we'll get to a regular practice. The Chiefs players will be wearing helmets, but not pads, and they'll be working with the coaches on the field.
OTAs for today and Thursday are open to the media. We'll be hearing from the players today and then Romeo Crennel on Thursday.
The first phase of the offseason program, which started in April, was mostly about conditioning. The second phase was about bringing the coaches on the field for some on-field instruction. And now the third phase, which are the OTAs, is getting closer to a normal practice.
Here's the Chiefs OTA schedule for the rest of the offseason program: May 21-22, May 24, May 29, May 31-June 1, June 4-5, June 7-8. There will then be a mandatory minicamp from June 12-14.
