Yeremiah Bell Reportedly Signs With New York Jets

The rumor had Yeremiah Bell down to selecting between the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles after a free agent tour around the NFL. Apparently the rumors were right with Rex Ryan's Jets winning the services for the former Miami Dolphins safety.

Bell's contract is reportedly a one-year deal for $1.4 million. The Kansas City Chiefs were among the teams that Bell spent time with along with the Tennessee Titans.

The Chiefs could still be in the market for veteran safety help given the injuries last season to Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis. Both are expected back, but the drop-off in talent last year between the starters and reserve was steep. Romeo Crennel's defense certainly held up very impressively in spite of the losses, but an upgrade is still likely.

DeQuan Menzie could also be an option as he gets into camp with the Chiefs after signing as the fifth round choice out of Alabama. While he's versatile, he's still a rookie adjusting to the league. Kicking the tires on another veteran makes sense as Scott Pioli rounds out the roster.
