The Kansas City Chiefs held a press conference in downtown Kansas City today announcing a few plans for the Chiefs 50th year in Kansas City. A Chiefs press release quotes Clark Hunt as saying:
"Over the last five decades, we have been honored to call Kansas City the home of the Chiefs, and in celebration of our 50th year in Kansas City, we want to say ‘thank you' to the best fans in the NFL," Hunt said. "Throughout the 2012 season, the Chiefs will host fan events, recognize special Kansas Citians, and thank Season Ticket Holders to show our deep gratitude for this community and how proud we are to be Kansas City's Chiefs."
Let's run down the list with what they're doing...
Season ticket account holders will receive a personalized Nike jersey. This was announced a few weeks ago on draft weekend.
Chiefs Fan Tour. The Chiefs will go on the road to say "thank you" to fans in various surrounding cities, which includes Wichita, Topeka, Springfield and Kansas City with former players like Bobby Bell and other special guests.
The Chiefs will return to Joplin on June 15 for a day of service. We're coming up on the one year anniversary of the Joplin tornado -- May 22. Still haven't forgotten where i was seeing the damage on CNN. Members of the Chiefs organization will go down there again in June.
The Chiefs will feature 50 Kansas Citians who helped shape Kansas City. This will come on features for the Chiefs website. Wonder where the most popular Chiefs blog in town stands on this list. Or perhaps my contributions to the local beef jerky scene.
Season ticket holders will now receive a "membership card". This would be in place of tickets and allow for a "seamless" transition into the stadium. There will also be merchandise and concession stand discounts. More information is coming on this in July.
