So Just How Fast Is Chiefs Draft Pick Dontari Poe?

So just how fast is new Kansas City Chiefs draft pick Dontari Poe?

Field Yates made this comparison on the Chop Talk podcast on Sunday night:

For some perspective he (Poe at combine) was 346 lbs, which was 148 lbs heavier than what Kendrick Lewis, a safety weighed in at the time. Dontari Poe ran just over a tenth-of-a-second slower than Kendrick Lewis. Which is just amazing to me to wrap my head around.

That's crazy. Really crazy.

Lewis, if you recall, had a bad NFL Combine back in 2010. He was injured when he ran the 40-yard dash and ran it in only 4.77 seconds. Poe ran it in 4.98 seconds.

I did a story on Lewis a while back after interviewing GM Scott Pioli. Pretty interesting stuff on the 40-yard dash at the Combine as it relates to Lewis.

And definitely be sure to check out partial transcripts of the Chop Talk podcast over at SB Nation Kansas City. The guests were Nick Wright, Field Yates and the No. 1 overall pick in the 610 Sports KC Media Mock Draft (read: me).
