Chiefs Reportedly Visiting With Alabama Nose Tackle

The position most talked about with the Kansas City Chiefs and the 2012 NFL draft -- besides quarterback -- is nose tackle. The KC Chiefs have Jerrell Powe and Anthony Toribio, as well as Amon Gordon, who can play some nose tackle. Kelly Gregg could still come back but the nose tackle position is pretty unsettled.

So maybe that's the reason the Chiefs are reportedly visiting with Alabama's Josh Chapman. The 6'1", 316 pound nose tackle is coming off of a knee injury, which is probably part of the reason the Chiefs are visiting with him -- to get an accurate medical update.

Chapman actually tore his ACL (and meniscus) during Alabama's 2011 season but chose to put off surgery until after the season. Let's repeat that: the dude tore his ACL and toughed it out all year. And, actually, he did something similar his junior year when he tore his labrum during the season and opted to push surgery off until after the season.

He's considered a mid round prospect with the surgery but he could move into the second or third round depending on how things shake out.

Chapman is an intriguing prospect because he played on a terrific defense and against elite competition. I'm sure the Chiefs are intrigued with him as well but the level of interest they may have will probably depend on where he stands medically.
