2012 NFL Mock Draft: Washington Redskins Select...

Representing the Washington Redskins, ChiefsFan90s with the second pick in Arrowhead Pride's 2012 NFL mock draft...

Before making the second pick in the 2012 NFL Draft let's take a look back at what was a monumental year for Mike Shanahan and company, and a year that will forever be remember in Washington Redskins history.

In just his second year with the team, the Redskins cruised out to a 3-1 start after suffering through a horrendous 2010 season, but things soon collapse as they finished the year losing another 2 games throughout the regular season and they failed to win a single playoff game this year under John Elway, Terrell Davis, Rod Smith, Steve Atwater and company.

Oh wait, that was Mike Shanahan's second year with the Denver back in 1996. Sorry, with all the promise the offensive genius the Shanahans and their zone-blocking offense were suppose to bring to a struggling Redskins' franchise I guess I got confused between the lure of Shanahan that got him hired after the 2009 season, and the false promise of making Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman, and dare I say it...John Beck the franchise quarterbacks in Washington since he took over.

Well now Shanahan is facing a potential "playoffs-or-bust" season in 2012 and he needs a rookie franchise quarterback to lean on to save his job for another season, and he got the answer to his prayers when the Redskins sent three first round picks, a second round pick, the deed to Six Flags, and the lost island-city Atlanta (See in video below) to St. Louis in exchange for the second overall pick.

Now the wait is over, and the Washington Redskins select...

Peter Griffin

No wait, forgot he was already a New England Patriot. Guess instead they choose Andrew Luck, the QB out of Stanford. As much as I would like to go into detail about this pick, I think the pick is very obvious and self-explanatory so we will just let his awards do the talking for me.

2011: Maxwell Award, 2011 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, 2011 First Team All America (AFCA, Walter Camp), Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All Pac 12, First Team Pac-12 All-Academic Team, Academic All-American of the Year(CoSIDA)
2010: Heisman Trophy Runner-up, Second Team All America, Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All Pac-10, Second Team Pac-10 All-Academic Team, Orange Bowl MVP
2009: Freshman All-America, Honorable Mention All Pac-10, First Team Pac-10 All-Academic Team

Now that the pick is in, Andrew Luck is heading the District of Columbia, Mike Shanahan and Son are heading towards their own sitcom, Bruce Allen is heading to the golf course, Daniel Snyder is heading to Six Flags, I am heading to Basic Military Training; so on behalf of the entire Redskins family, we wish everyone else good luck and will see you this time again next year.

Next up, the Minnesota Vikings...
