I was looking through the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for something on the St. Louis Rams and something stuck out in one of the stories -- Barry Richardson was among those visiting the Rams on Thursday. Richardson, of course, is the former right tackle for the KC Chiefs.
He was among five players that visited St. Louis on Thursday but the Rams opted to sign offensive lineman Quinn Ojinnaka, not Richardson.
According to Pro Football Focus, Richardson graded out as one of the worst offensive tackles last season. He took a big step backwards from 2010, which is concerning for a young player like him. The Chiefs have since signed OT Eric Winston so the right tackle spot is all filled up. It's gotta be the biggest position upgrade of the year for the Chiefs.
Richardson is currently a free agent and has not re-signed with the team. That he's making visits suggests he may not return to KC.
I've wondered if the Chiefs would bring Richardson back but just as a reserve swing tackle, and not as the starter on the right side. Maybe not. This is the first bit of free agent news we've seen on Richardson since the market opened.
