Chiefs LB Jovan Belcher Signs His Tender

Jovan Belcher is officially in the fold. Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star reported (and the Chiefs have sinceconfirmed) that Belcher signed his restricted free agent tender. Belcher was at the second round level, which gives him $1.972 million for the 2012 season.

Unrestricted free agency comes with players who have four or more years in the league but Belcher just has three so he's a restricted free agent. No one is going to trade a second round pick for him so we've been expecting him back.

Belcher is exactly the type of guy you hope for when you go searching for undrafted free agents. He was picked in the 2009 NFL draft, the Chiefs picked him and he's started 31 games in the last two seasons. He'll have some competition from Brandon Siler this year at inside linebacker.
