Free Agent Mike Tolbert Still Looking For A New Team

Earlier this week the Kansas City Chiefs set up visits with several free agent running backs, including Peyton Hillis and Mike Tolbert. The Chiefs then signed Hillis, which almost made us forget about Tolbert's visit.

The former San Diego Chargers running back did indeed visit KC on Thursday but he left. There's not much buzz surrounding his KC visit so I take it that he's unlikely to land with the Chiefs.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Tolbert is expected to join the Pittsburgh Steelers or Carolina Panthers. There were supposedly a dozen teams interested in him.

Once the Chiefs signed Hillis, there was really no reason for pick up Tolbert. It would've been cool but, as I've said before, I don't think the Chiefs should be in the business of taking carries away from the best player, Jamaal Charles.

As Acee points out, joining the Panthers would put Tolbert in the same division as a lot of other former Chargers including Drew Brees, Darren Sproles, Vincent Jackson and Michael Turner. (Holy crap, the Chargers draft well.)
