Eric Winston Remains In KC On Friday Night

Interesting development regarding Eric Winston, folks. The free agent right tackle visited the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday afternoon, where he remained into Friday. On Friday afternoon, he was scheduled to visit the St. Louis Rams, just a stone's throw away on I-70.

His visit to St. Louis has been canceled, according to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com. Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star said Winston stayed in KC overnight.

Another important nugget from Marvez: Winston is expected to resume taking free agent visits soon. Maybe the Chiefs stop him from taking any more visits, though.
He hasn't signed with the Chiefs yet but the fact that he hasn't left town has to be considered good news. Winston isn't totally healthy yet so I've been wondering if he is going to sign right away or take some time while he fully recovers from getting his ankle scoped earlier this offseason.

He's clearly the top right tackle on the market and he has multiple suitors so this won't be cheap. Color me impressed, though, that the Chiefs have kept one of the top free agents in their building for the last two days.

Now impress us even more and get this deal done.

If this plays out like a lot of contract negotiations do, we'll soon hear something about Winston visiting elsewhere, or other "mystery teams" joining the pursuit, which will put some pressure on the Chiefs to get something done. I see NFL Network's Jason La Canfora links Winston to the Redskins, which is standard operating procedure for agents of free agents.
