Free Agent OT Marcus McNeill Plans Visit With Chiefs

While we wait on any news surrounding free agent RT Eric Winston's visit with the Kansas City Chiefs today, let's take a look at a potential fallback option. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, former San Diego Chargers OT Marcus McNeill is scheduled to visit the Chiefs next week.

McNeill was cut by the Chargers this week. He's had injury issues the past two seasons so the Chargers made him a cap casualty. He's a former first round pick who looked like he was on his way to becoming one of the best left tackles in the game before injuries killed his value. It's been reported he's been cleared to play but the Chiefs doctors will want to get their own opinion on that.

McNeill's experience in the NFL is only on the left side, just like Chiefs OT Branden Albert, so it makes you wonder how the Chiefs line would look if McNeill were added.

According to the Detroit Free Press report, McNeill visited the Detroit Lions already and has one planned with the Atlanta Falcons as well.

Of course, if the Chiefs can lock down Winston today, then this visit probably doesn't happen. We'll see what happens...
