Eric Winston Watch Enters Day Two In Kansas City

Eric Winston watch enters day two in Kansas City.

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star has the latest on Winston's visit with the Chiefs. The free agent right tackle arrived in KC a little later than expected yesterday so his meeting with the Chifes continues into today. That means, yes, Winston is still in KC as you wake up this morning.

Teicher reports the medical stuff was done yesterday, which is notable because Winston was actually designated as failed physical leaving the Texans. He had his ankle scoped after the season but it's expected to be healthy in a couple of weeks.

The longer a free agent stays in your town, the better. If you're dead set on signing the player then you do not let him leave your facility without a contract. Lock the doors. Block the gates at Arrowhead. Shut down KCI. Do whatever you gotta do to keep this guy in town.

Adding Winston would make this a very good class just three days into free agency. The Chiefs have signed TE Kevin Boss and RB Peyton Hillis. Winston would be the main event of this free agency class and a fill a need that hasn't been truly filled since John Tait (yeah, John Tait).

Oh, and he'd also probably be the biggest and most expensive free agent signing in the Pioli era.
