Chiefs GM Says Free Agency Goal Was Adding Running Back Help

The Kansas City Chiefs brass has commented on the arrival of free agent RB Peyton Hillis, previously of the Cleveland Browns. GM Scott Pioli said in comments distributed by the team that Hillis was a player they planned to target from the start.

"Peyton was a player we planned to target when free agency began," said Pioli. "One of our goals going into free agency this year was to build depth at the running back position and we are pleased to add a talented player like Peyton to the mix."

So, yeah, one of the Chiefs goals was to build depth at running back. Perhaps the desire to build depth is a sign that Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle may not return (which, on Jones, isn't a surprise). FB Le'Ron McClain already agreed with the San Diego Chargers.

"We are happy that Peyton decided to join us," said Romeo Crennel. "Peyton is a big, strong, physical back with a lot of talent and he should fit into our system well. We are looking forward to working with him and adding him into our offense."

Should be fun. I'm looking forward to it as well.
