Didn't see this one coming. According to several reports, the San Diego Chargers have agreed to free agent fullback Le'Ron McClain on a three-year contract. No word on how much money it's worth but more than the Kansas City Chiefs paid him last year on a one-year deal.
The Chiefs said they were interested in bringing McClain back but apparently not on a three-year deal. McClain was used mostly as a fullback in Kansas City last season and hardly carried the ball so it didn't make sense for the Chiefs to commit a whole lot to him if that's the way they were going to use him.
Folks, I hate to say this but the Chargers are having a nice free agency period. They signed WR Robert Meachem and OT Jared Gaither (that guy is good) as well as LB Jarret Johnson.
There was a chance the Chiefs and Chargers could have ended up swapping backs had KC signed Mike Tolbert. Looks like Peyton Hillis was the choice instead.
