Jared Gaither Re-Ups With Chargers For Four Years

Sigh...the San Diego Chargers just re-signed OT Jared Gaither.

You know, the guy the Chiefs cut midseason because he lacked "explosiveness"?

Apparently he was good enough in San Diego to receive a four-year contract. I'd be curious to see the terms of the deal. (That the Chargers themselves announced the move and the numbers weren't leaked ahead of time suggests it's not a blockbuster contract.)

In hindsight, if I were the Chiefs I would've given Gaither a chance to play a little bit at the end of the year to show the rest of the league whether or not he could play. If he could play, then the Chiefs could've simply held onto him, allowed him to walk in free agency and then potentially picked up a compensatory pick. The Chiefs elevated OT David Mims from the practice squad instead.

Yeah, hindsight is 20/20, but even at the time of Gaither's release we didn't understand the move.

So the Chiefs will be seeing plenty of Gaither over the coming years. You think Tamba Hali likes this move?
