According to multiple reports, the Kansas City Chiefs hosted TE John Carlson for a free agent visit on Wednesday. Apparently, that visit didn't last long.
Bill Williamson of ESPN.com reports Carlson cut his visit to Kansas City short and is now heading to Minnesota to visit the Vikings. The report states Carlson is "likely" to sign with the Vikings on his visit, which would reunite him with another former Golden Domer tight end, Kyle Rudolph.
The Chiefs probably wanted some insurance in case TE Tony Moeaki went down with another injury. He had a terrific rookie season but his second season was over before it started with a preseason ACL tear. Moeaki has a history of injuries to I think adding another tight end is a smart. But that tight end apparently isn't expected to be Carlson.
The Chiefs have a couple of free agent tight ends in Anthony Becht and Leonard Pope. Jake O'Connell was re-signed earlier in the offseason.
