It appears we have our first visit for the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports TE John Carlson is visiting the Chiefs. Adam Teicher of the KC Star is saying the same thing. The date of the visit is unknown.
Carlson is a 6'5", 256 pound tight end who has spent his entire career in Seattle. The Seahawks picked him up in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft.
Carlson's best season was his rookie year when he caught 55 balls for 627 yards and five touchdowns. He had 51 catches for 574 yards and seven touchdowns in 2009. He suffered an injury in preseason that ended his 2011 season before it even started.
He's been connected to a few teams in free agency rumors including the Browns, Giants and Bears but KC is his only known visit at this point.
The Chiefs tight end situation is an interesting one. They have a guy we all like in Tony Moeaki but he has a history of injury and missed the entire 2011 season with an ACL tear. Carlson would provide some insurance for Moeaki.
Update: Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com adds these teams as those interested in Carlson: Bears, Bucs, Colts, Cowboys and Seahawks.
