Even though the 2012 NFL Draft is months away, we're right smack in the middle of talking about the Kansas City Chiefs draft interests. The Senior Bowl and NFL Combine are behind us and we've got two months of speculation, rumors, visits, pro days and ree agency talk to look at.
To help keep track of all of this information, I present to you the first iteration of the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs Draft Interests table.
Simply put, the table after the jump lists college football players that the Kansas City Chiefs have had some level of interest in, whether that be an interview at the Combine, a pro day visit, or a formally scheduled workout. Reports and rumors are included (and labeled as such). Come late April, we'll have a much fuller table, not unlike how the 2011 edition turned out.
A couple things to note about this table. First, if you see a prospect that the Chiefs have shown interest in that's not listed in the table, drop a comment and a link to the news. Over the years, this has evolved into a community project and you guys are searching around for this info as much as we are.
Second, many of you are probably already wondering, "Does this mean the Chiefs are going to draft XYZ player on the list?" Potentially, but you have to realize the Kansas City Chiefs will be talking with a lot of college prospects and ultimately they will only draft ~8 players. Some of these visits and interviews are going to be simple due diligence. Other visits may be a smokescreen to other teams. We really just don't know. But at the very least, we'll collect the data and talk about it.
We've got six prospects on the list so far. Four quarterbacks, one defensive tackle and one wide receiver.
The full draft interests table is after the jump.
