Kansas City Chiefs defensive assistant coach Adam Zimmer was arrested on Sunday for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
According to police, Zimmer was arrested around 9 p.m. CT on Sunday after being involved in a one-vehicle accident. The accident occurred at an intersection and Zimmer was the only occupant in the vehicle. Zimmer, who is the son of Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, was reportedly not injured in the crash. He was cited for suspected DWI. A police spokesman said the police report was not completed and no further details were available.
Zimmer, an assistant linebackers coach, is in his third season with the Chiefs. Kansas City played Indianapolis at home on Sunday, losing 20-13. A spokesman for the Chiefs said the team was aware of the incident and was still gathering more information.
In addition to three seasons with the Chiefs, Zimmer also spent four seasons coaching with the New Orleans Saints.
