For the second time in as many weeks, we have a media outlet pushing the Bill-Polian-to-the-Chiefs rumor. Last week it was National Football Post who suggested Polian could be first in line if/when the Chiefs GM job is open.
Today CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora is talking about it.
As for those more well-known entities, several league sources expect Bill Polian to be a lead candidate in Kansas City if a regime change is made there, with he and his son Chris, the former Colts GM, able to run the franchise in a very hands-on manner, which is in line with how owner Clark Hunt traditionally delegates responsibility.
The challenge is to figure out whether this is just a connecting-the-dots type of rumor (probably) or if there's actually some legs to it. The report states that "several league sources expect" which basically means that the gossip around the league is that this could happen. Not that it will happen.
No one has shown they have a good read on what Clark Hunt will do. There are rarely reports that quote sources close to Clark Hunt. So I question any report that is based on what Clark Hunt thinks.
Of course, why would Hunt float this? There's only one person that could benefit from this hitting the public and that's Polian. The more interest there is, the higher the price tag.
Hmm.
