It's official: Dwayne Bowe put on IR by the Chiefs, ending his season

As expected, the Chiefs finally announced Bowe has been placed on IR.

While I was out schmoozing away at Mrs. Primetime's work Christmas party last night, the Kansas City Chiefs were busy putting Dwayne Bowe on injured reserve. The Chiefs made it official and announced the move -- Bowe's season is over.

Reports surfaced earlier in the week that the Chiefs planned to end Bowe's season but because they're the Chiefs and nothing can be that easy they waited all week long to announce that decision.

Bowe's final numbers for the season: 59 receptions for 801 yards and three touchdowns.

Kinda fitting that his longest catch of the season was also his last one -- that 47-yarder against Cleveland.

Bowe finishes one catch behind Henry Marshall for second place all-time on the Chiefs receptions list (everyone is lightyears behind No. 1, Tony Gonzalez, though). Whether he'll get a chance to add to that number is one of the biggest questions this offseason. Bowe's contract expires at the end of this season.

The Chiefs elevated Rich Ranglin from the practice squad to take his roster spot. And I'm wondering if the fact that hit was Ranglin, an offensive lineman, can tell us a little about who today's inactives will be. The Chiefs have three starting offensive lineman listed as questionable while one backup, Russ Hochstein, has already been ruled out.
