Heads are rolling at One Arrowhead Drive but not in the fashion we thought they would. At Monday's press conference. Romeo Crennel announced the release of Stanford Routt.
And he also announced another firing -- himself.
Crennel, who holds both head coach and defensive coordinator titles, said he was promoting Gary Gibbs to defensive coordinator so he can spend more time with the entire team.
This seems like the conclusion most coaches who try to pull double duty come to. It happened with Todd Haley when he tried to be the Chiefs offensive coordinator and head coach just a couple of years ago. The Chiefs probably should've known better but it's good that they've recognized something is wrong and are doing something about it.
We all wanted to see changes and the Chiefs have started to make a few of those moves. Yeah, I wish some of this would have come sooner but it's good to see changes coming to a team that looks like they might be the worst in all of football.
Change is good every once in a while.
