On Tuesday the Kansas City Chiefs released linebacker Bryan Kehl.
On Wednesday they signed the new guy: Hayworth Hicks.
The NFL's transactions report shows the Chiefs claimed Hicks off waivers after the Jets released him. The Bucs also put in a claim, but the Chiefs had waiver priority...No. 1, in fact.
They claimed him off the waiver wire. Anybody released at this time of year must pass through waivers, where every team gets a chance to claim them and their contract (order is based on worst to best record). It's the same process that had Jacksonville claiming Jason Babin.
So Hicks is an offensive lineman, he'll be playing at guard. He went undrafted and stands 6'3 and 336 pounds. He went to Iowa State. Any Cyclones in the house?
The Chiefs released Rich Ranglin earlier in the week, and Ryan Lilja is on the injury report, so there's been some movement at guard.
In other transactions news, the Redskins claimed Bryan Kehl, who previously played in Washington.
Update: The man himself.
